Where can I find silkworm?

Can I refrigerate them? Yes, you can prevent the eggs from hatching by refrigerating them at 10° C (50° F). Be careful not to expose them to temperatures lower than that or they may not hatch. My silkworms have stopped eating.

Can you touch silkworms?
Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before handling the worms or their food. Silkworms can be susceptible to bacteria if you don’t properly handle them. As long as the container environment remains dry, your worms will be fine.
Do you need to dust silkworms?
Silkworms are raised on a highly nutritious food – there’s no need to worry about gutloading, as they’ll have eaten a quality meal minutes before consumption anyway! As long as you are dusting other feeder insects, I would recommend against dusting silkworms. Their smooth exterior does not retain powders well.

Silk is derived from the cocoons of larvae, so most of the insects raised by the industry don’t live past the pupal stage. Roughly 3,000 silkworms are killed to make a single pound of silk. That means that billions, if not trillions, of them are killed for this every year.
